Let’s pour one out for the real MVP of every raid: the feathered loot-lord himself, Scrappy.

Yep, the clucking treasure chest you sprint to after each mission started life as a straight-up accident. I was still living at my parents’ place, dodging real rent and juggling Zoom calls, when their free-range squad staged a coup on my webcam. One-eyed, food-stepping, cuddle-bug rooster Håkan stole the show—and my heart.

I scanned him on a lark and dropped the mesh into early builds as a ghost-in-the-cantina easter egg. Players kept spotting “Chicken.exe” and losing their minds, so when the design team hit a wall trying to invent a “resource producer,” an artist raised a hand: “Don’t we already have a rooster?”

Temporary placeholder? Sure. Replaceable? Never. Håkan became Scrappy, the raid-ending reward we all fist-bump today. Next time you pet the bird and pocket your scrap, tell him his old roommate says hi.
